    • Behapowców self-portrait, part 2 (4)
The author carried out a questionnaire, the analysis of which is an attempt to answer the question what is the condition of the health and safety service. The online questionnaire survey was carried out until June 14 to September 3, 2018 and 423 people took part. During the survey, representatives of the OSH service answered a number of questions, including In what industry they work, how long do they change their job, what their position is, how much they earn, what problems they encounter. The first part of the discussion of the results of this study was included in ATEST 12/2018.

    • The role of OSH service in occupational risk assessment (13)
In the last, sixth part of the fourteenth task of the health and safety service, the author refers to a very important issue related to risk assessment, namely: What after occupational risk assessment? What actions should be taken after it has been carried out?

    • If the presumption of the existence of an employment relationship is not the right to issue a decision (59)
As part of the supervision over the legality of employment, labor inspectors conducting audits still find, quite often, not to say routinely, cases of "contracting" of employment contracts with contracts for the provision of services to which the provisions of the Civil Code regarding contracts apply.

    • The boundary between the sphere of professional and private matters (62)
In principle, an insurance event in the event of accidents at work would not be subject to insurance on the return journey (after the act) from the contractor's premises to the entrepreneur's home. It would be a way from work to home, a road in which business people move from the sphere of professional affairs to the sphere of private affairs. However, the situation becomes more complicated when a business owner has a place of residence and a company headquarters in one building. Then, the assessment of whether the way from the premises of the recipient of the goods (services) to the place of residence and at the same time the headquarters of the insured company is the way from work to home, is not explicit. The boundary between the sphere of professional and private entrepreneurial matters fades.

    • Dangerous goods on Polish roads (18)
150 million tons of dangerous goods are transported annually on Polish roads, including flammable, explosive, corrosive, poisonous and radioactive materials. Of the 500 substances commonly classified as dangerous in the economy, over 170 are classified as extremely toxic industrial substances. Every day, about 22,000 vehicles cover this type of material on our roads. This movement is not always safe, it often gets out of control, sometimes carriers break the rules and procedures. Very often, these transports take place during high traffic and through densely populated areas, eg in the neighborhood of housing estates, schools, shopping centers, which significantly increases the risk of hazardous to health and life and to the natural environment.

  • Ergonomics
    • RULA - a convenient tool for assessing the load of the motor system (26)
RULA is currently a widely used quick method of ergonomic evaluation of workstations, where employees complain about complaints from the motor system. although the RULA method takes into account both the biomechanical and the postural load of the whole body, it is primarily focused on the load on the neck, trunk and upper limbs. It works perfectly in the case of work performed in a sitting position (eg at the computer or while sewing - in these conditions its reliability has been tested). Its important advantages are: ease of use and speed of obtaining the result, which is the determination of the range of ergonomic interventions necessary to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Health
    • Preventive examinations of teachers of the education system (37)
The statutory duty of every employer in Poland is preventive protection of employees' health - this also applies to schools and other education system institutions. The basic legal instrument for the protection of workers' health are the so-called preventive examinations. Their goal is to protect the most important human goods: health and life. Preventive examinations are on the one hand the protection of an employee, and on the other hand, they protect the employer's interest. Thanks to these tests, it is possible to select those candidates for employees and employees whose health status does not allow them to be admitted to work or needs to be removed from work previously performed by them.
    • How to correctly fill in a referral for an employee's preventive examinations? (48)
Although the current referral for preventive examinations was introduced in 2015, it still causes a lot of problems for employers. An irreplaceable role in supplementing the referral form, of course, is played by employees of OHS cells who are best aware of the characteristics of positions occurring in a given workplace. This article was created to indicate these elements in the fulfillment of the referral printing, which are the most important from the point of view of the physician performing the prophylactic examination of the employee.
  • Accidents and failures
    • Failure to follow safe work procedures as the cause of accidents (42)
It seems obvious that the reference to a group of specific causes of work-related accidents requires taking into account the scale of the phenomenon, i.e., to put it to the best - to try to assess the significance of the problem. For example, even without delving into detailed data, with a probability bordering on the certainty, we can assume that the choking of the taster during wine tasting, statistically will not be a frequent event causing accidents at work.

The title slogan "Work smarter, not harder" is one of the four basic principles of ergonomics. The idea is to use such work techniques and tools that make work safer, lighter, more pleasant and more efficient.
