- On farmers’ safety at work during the KRUS conference (7)
The effects of accidents at work and occupational diseases of farmers were the subject of the conference organized on December 12, 2018 at the Central Agricultural Social Insurance Fund. A rich spectrum of topics is planned, divided into two blocks of issues. The first part presents statistical data on accidents at work and occupational diseases of farmers as well as social and economic effects of these phenomena. The second session was devoted to broadly understood prevention.

- Hazards at work of the galvanization lab assistant (10)
Manganese phosphating is a galvanic process running at the liquid-metal interface. An important element is the maintenance of strictly defined chemical parameters of the galvanic line operation. The article presents the course of the process of manganese phosphating, as well as the hazards associated with it in the laboratory workstation who has direct contact with highly dangerous factors. Such work activities as the collection of samples for testing, analysis and bathing create real health risks for the lab technician. The main hazards associated with the work of a galvanic lab technician include direct contact with corrosive chemicals, such as concentrated hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid (VI), hot solutions of process baths with high temperature and high volume.
- Healthcare workers’ exposure to hematogenous pathogens (15)
Injuries and injuries caused by the sharp medical tools of healthcare professionals pose a serious threat to the transmission of blood-borne pathogens (HBV, HCV and HIV) from infected patients to medical personnel. Appropriate legal regulations, the use of safe, easy-to-use medical equipment, training and post-exposure procedures after exposure to HBV, HCV and HIV, and other infectious agents, can significantly reduce the exposure of healthcare workers to blood borne microorganisms.
- Impact of carbon nanotubes in the air of work environment on human’s respiratory system (19)
Carbon nanotubes are an important group of nanomaterials. The article presents their short characteristics and the occurrence of a working environment in the air. the human respiratory system is discussed, which is the main route of occupational exposure to carbon nanotubes and the mechanisms of its purification from deposited particles. The results of investigations on the impact of selected carbon nanotubes on the surface properties of a monolayer formed from phosphatidylcholine, which is the main component of the pulmonary surfactant, are presented.

Occupations in the work environment caused by various types of harmful factors are the cause of occupational diseases. Undertaking preventive actions that protect employees against excessive exposure to harmful factors requires knowledge about the risk of these factors in the work program. The wireless sensor networks can be used to monitor hazards in the work environment. The article presents the basic issues of wireless sensor networks and the possibility of implementing this type of network using solutions in the field of the Internet of Things and intended to monitor the work environment in terms of the occurrence of hazards harmful factors and alert workers about them with the help of devices.
