A healthier workplace begins on the way to it, and conscious work time management is an advantage not only for the employee, but also for the company's image.
- Acoustics of silence (6)
The subject of most scientific conferences, as well as publications dealing with noise issues, focuses on sound pressure levels in the following ranges: harmfulness (80-130 dB) and to a lesser extent nuisance (45-80 dB). In the last two years, many works have been undertaken related to the acoustic comfort range (20-45 dB levels). The article characterizes the significance of this range in several sections: physical, metrological and legal. Selected issues of very low sound pressure levels (below 20 dB) are also presented.
- Limiting miners exposure to noise by placing work stations for conveyor belts in technological cavities (11)
The article presents a method for limiting exposure to noise at conveyor belt handling stations by positioning work stations in designed technological cavities. The solution consists in designing the optimal location of the technological cavity, enabling the implementation of production tasks, taking into account the principles of work safety. Workplaces were made in designed places of mining excavations on the principle of a one-sided inlet with a ceiling, a front wall and side walls.
- Mobile station for visualization of the acoustic field around machines (16)
Visualization of acoustic field parameters is a relatively new research method that enables the visualization of parameters characterizing the acoustic field at specific points of the space near the machine. Images obtained in this way can be of great use in the analysis of prototype devices, construction, as well as in the analysis of the acoustic field around industrial machines. The article describes the operation of an exemplary, mobile position, visualizing the acoustic field around machines. The results of the noise emission tests carried out on the example of a loudspeaker set and a vacuum pump are also discussed.
- Transmission of hazard information to an employee equipped with an individual vibration alert system (21)
The use of hearing protectors is a frequent way of protecting the hearing organ from the impact of noise in the work environment. However, it should be borne in mind that the use of hearing protectors in addition to limiting the impact of noise also worsens the perception of sounds that are important for the safety of the worker. In such cases, employee safety can be improved / increased by using a system to detect the near presence of a moving vehicle. Such a system should be able to transmit information on detected danger to an employee using hearing protection. The article discusses the possible ways of providing information about the threat to users of hearing protectors. Advantages and disadvantages of using acoustic, luminous and vibration signal for this purpose have been considered. Also presented are own tests checking the possibility of perceiving the vibration signal produced by two types of usable devices.
- Studies on the condition of ear simulators used in Poland and the impact of their acoustic parameters on the results of hearing tests (24)
Ear simulators are used to calibrate and regulate audiometric devices. Their acoustic parameters may change over time, affecting the test results and hearing assessment, which is why ear simulators should be periodically calibrated. During the calibration, two acoustic parameters are determined: the level of pressure efficiency and the level of the acoustic impedance of the transfer of the ear simulator system. Requirements relating to this second parameter are specified in PN-EN60318-1: 2010. The article examines how the change in the acoustic level of impedance transfer of the ear simulator affects changes in the sound pressure level produced in the ear simulator by the audiometric receiver. The results of measurements of acoustic parameters of ear simulators used in Poland were also presented. The results of measurements of the level of effectiveness and acoustic level of transfer impedance as well as the evaluation of the tested ear simulators in the scope of their suitability for calibration of audiometric equipment are presented.
