    On December 12, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy in Warsaw, an award ceremony was held for the winners of the 47th edition of the National Competition for the Improvement of Working Conditions.

    The goal of this project was to develop a method and develop a laboratory model of the system for recognizing the degree of fatigue, based on the analysis of various types of behavioral and physiological signals from an employee.

  • National competition "Safe work in a warehouse" (9)
    The "Safe Work in Warehouse" competition has been regularly announced since 2015 by the log4.pl logistics portal, in cooperation with the Office of Technical Inspection, the State Labor Inspectorate, the Lodz University of Technology and the Polish Warehouse Technology Association. As a result of the analysis of competition responses, the "Leader of safe work in the warehouse" is selected, who, together with the title, receives a statuette and a special diploma.
  • Shift work - health effects and their reduction (10)
    The article deals with the issue of changes occurring in the human body as a result of performing professional duties at non-standard hours, in shift and night work modes. It was described how sleep deficits and its disorders can affect physiological processes and intensify unhealthy habits and behavior of employees. Many activities were also presented, the implementation of which allows for mitigating the negative effects of shift work and maintaining good quality of sleep.
  • Legal regulations in the field of health and safety at sea on commercial vessels (15)
    The article commemorates the 40th anniversary of the issue and entry into force of the Regulation of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Maritime Economy of June 25, 1979 on occupational health and safety on maritime commercial vessels. This act, which has never been changed before, is not only an example of exemplary, complete and competent legislation, but also raises recognition with an excellent approach to the legal, technical and organizational side of OSH on a seagoing ship. Apart from the Act of 5 August 2015 on work at sea, the author also discusses the competences of the ship's captain in the field of OSH present in other generally applicable sources of law.
  • New technologies in the design of personal protective equipment for head protection (20)
    Very often during work or while playing sports a person is exposed to many threats, among which the most dangerous are head injuries. We are not able to eliminate them completely, various protection measures are used. Their design and construction is constantly changing and evolving, and the protective parameters are closely matched to the anticipated threats. New materials and technical solutions are used in the construction of helmets, which are aimed at increasing human safety and comfort of use, as well as reducing the weight of the helmet and increasing its functionality. Such goals can be achieved mainly thanks to the use of modern software of amortization materials with specially selected damping characteristics. The article presents modern design methods and computer simulations of behavior, depreciation materials with specially selected strength - deformation characteristics, providing both protective and functional properties.
  • Assessment of tonal noise in the work environment (24)
    Noise as a stressor can contribute to the development of various types of diseases, cause distraction, hinder work and reduce employee productivity. Elements of the technical equipment of the building, as well as office equipment can emit clear tonal sounds. The widespread occurrence of these devices in the work environment potentially translates into several hundred thousand jobs in Poland. Numerous literature reports indicate that the nuisance of tonal noise is subjectively assessed to be greater than that of broadband noise. The assessment of the working environment lacks criteria for tonal noise both indoors (building standards) and in terms of noise at workplaces (assessment of nuisance). The article reviews existing regulations, analyzes literature data and gives the results of research conducted at CIOP-PIB in the field of tonal noise nuisance.
