• Digital radiography in NDT (part I)
In the acceptance practice of welded joints or castings using the radiographic method to assess their quality, we are increasingly dealing with digital techniques that replace the membrane technique. There are many new terms related to the technical solutions of digital radiography and quality requirements. That is why it is worth introducing closer to inspectors of technical supervision (who do not deal with the physical performance of non-destructive radiographic examinations) of this new technique, which in the field of medicine has almost completely supplanted the use of a radiographic membrane. The author will be grateful for the critical comments from readers to this publication.
  • Decoding and installing engineering sense on the example of training engineers using the Polish ILM method for the construction of LNG liquid natural gas tanks
The liquidation of specialist welding companies during the restructuring of enterprises specialized in servicing the global market of the Russian Empire and the continuous expansion of the German industry resulting in a 10-fold reduction in employment required the collection and systematization of practitioners gathered and generations of highly protected technological knowledge. It turned out that knowledge about the construction of bridges, ships, refineries and power plants is gathered at various positions, from the main welding machine to managers, masters, foremen, technologists, ending with the welder.
  • Selected problems of technical supervision in conditions of wide use of anthropomorphic robots
The work discusses the problems that may arise in the sphere of technical supervision, when in the vicinity of currently used stationary robots there are also mobile robots, especially anthropomorphic robots. First, the problems that are already associated with typical stationary robots are briefly summarized. Next, the reasons for the construction and use of anthropomorphic robots have been explained. Finally, the problems that can be expected are outlined when anthropomorphic robots actually appear in enterprises, especially in production halls.
  • SONAR - ultrasonic diagnostics of the condition of fixing steel anchors in the rock mass KOFAMA Koźle S.A.
The project included steel anchors, which are fixed in the rock mass to reinforce and improve the stability of the mine sidewalk housing, but they also work well as an indicator monitoring the work (movement) of the rock mass. Monitoring of rock mass dislocations is very important in terms of the safety of crews working underground. A sudden loss of stability of excavations may result in dynamic phenomena (e.g detachment of rocks from the roof) that pose a direct threat to the life and health of miners. The proposed project offers a non-invasive device dedicated to detecting and identifying the movement of rock masses in holes drilled in the roof of the mining sidewalk. Displacement monitoring is an important parameter that helps determine the condition of the anchor housing.
  • Diagnostics supporting the flexible operation of 200 MW class blocks
"The End of the Carbon Age" is the opinion of one of the experts on the news of a successful attempt to obtain fuel through the distillation of crude oil "Scientific American", 1867. Among the requirements for power blocks the most important are technical requirements, because they decide about their availability. For 200 MW class blocks, which will stabilize the National Power System even more than in the future, high availability will be the most desirable feature. It can be provided only by knowledge of properly organized and performed diagnostics and the maintenance created on its basis, having the appropriate scope and level at acceptable costs. For this purpose, a complete diagnostic system was developed that integrates prediction of durability and prediction of failure, taking into account the operating conditions of over 30 200 MW class blocks.
