According to scientists, it is possible to avoid a climate catastrophe by achieving global climate neutrality, i.e. a balance between the emission and absorption of greenhouse gases. In all sectors of the economy, efforts should be made to reduce greenhouse gases so that the global temperature rise on Earth does not exceed 1.5°C. This is confirmed by the latest report entitled "Zero-emission Poland 2050", published in September by WWF Poland. The purpose of the soil research was to determine the impact of Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn on the properties of forest soils in their immediate vicinity. The properties of forest soils were compared to those of an area five kilometers to the east. It was found that the soils in the immediate vicinity of the plant are characterized by a greater accumulation of organic matter. The concentration of nitrogen in the form of nitrate was 16-36 times higher than in the soil distant from the plant. There are many environmental problems in rural areas in Poland. One of them is smog (...). Unfortunately, the problem of smog is most often noticed in urban agglomerations, in the vicinity of industrial or heating plants. In these places, we also focus on pollution measurements, air monitoring and take all corrective measures. There are no such activities in rural areas. It is this problem that I dealt with in my research work entitled "Smog consumes the village of Janowo", prepared for the district stage of the XXXV Olympiad of Ecological Knowledge. For several years I have been living in the village of Janowo, 7 km away from Elbląg. In the work done for the XXXV Olympiad of Ecological Knowledge, I dealt with one of the most important environmental problems today, which is water scarcity and improper water management. Climate anomalies, which have appeared more and more frequently recently, do not have a positive effect on the amount of available water. I noticed that this problem is dear to me, because it also occurs in my place of residence, which is Hajnówka - a brother to the Białowieża Forest. After talking to the residents, I realized that although so much is being done to promote the right patterns of behavior to protect the environment, the problem of ignorance and unconsciousness occurs in smaller towns. Stereotypes are deeply rooted in human consciousness. However, people are open and ready for changes, you just need to give them interesting ideas and make them aware of how much they can do in their households to protect water resources on our planet. Also, the introduction of subsidy programs, which are already becoming increasingly available, can help local governments. Lake Trzesiecko is a medium-sized ribbon lake with a post-glacial origin and an area of approx. 300 ha, located in Szczecinek in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, on the border of the Szczecinek Lake District and the Drawskie Lake District. Due to its location in the center of a city with a population of 40,000, the lake is subject to high anthropopressure and burdened with municipal, agricultural and industrial pollution. Although soils store an enormous amount of carbon, modern climate models take little account of the impact of soils on climate change. Portable Wind Turbine Most of the gusts of wind above the land surface are too gentle to move commercial wind turbines. Meanwhile, Chinese scientists have developed a small turbine that can harness the energy of the blasts generated by brisk walking. Their method is supposed to be a cheap way to use wind as a source of micro energy. The new device is not de facto a turbine, but rather a nanogenerator consisting of two strips of plastic in a tube that vibrate or come into contact with the flow of air. The method of acquiring an electric charge is like rubbing your hair on an inflated balloon. The generated charge is then captured and stored. A representative of the Chinese Academy of Sciences claims that literally any breath of air can be used in this way. During the experiment, a device was mounted on the hands of a passerby.
