Poland faces important challenges related to municipal waste management. The scale of the problem is evidenced by the fact that we produce an average of 14.5 million tonnes of municipal waste annually, and the amount of waste increases by approximately 0.5 million tonnes each year. The biggest problem for the environment and the inhabitants of our country is especially waste that cannot be recycled or reused. Their storage is not a good solution for the environment, local government budgets or for the residents. The amendment to the Energy Efficiency Act, along with a supplementary regulation, puts in order the issue of how to measure heat consumption. This is the case, inter alia, thanks to the introduction of the obligation of individual metering. These changes may bring direct benefits to heat consumers, and at the same time they will minimize the negative impact on the natural environment. This is an opportunity to save millions of Poles and provide transparent information on heat consumption.
