• Numerical modeling of rock mass deformation in the area of a hollow tunnel
The subject of the article is a series of numerical simulations regarding the behavior of fly rock in the area of a hollow tunnel. The analysis of the change in the state of stress and deformation of the flysch rock mass around the tunnel was analyzed. ABAQUS and RS2 programs were used for simulation. Multivariate analysis was carried out using the Coulomb-Mohr elastic plastic model. The obtained results are presented in the form of graphs and maps of stresses and displacements.
  • 70th anniversary of mining supervision in Lower Silesia
The article introduces the historical history of creating mining supervision in Lower Silesia, which was inseparably connected with the development of mining in this area, reaching for a more contemporary history. Celebrated the jubilee of the 70th anniversary, recorded in the fairy-tale form of Gawriel's Dwarf and in the commemorative medal, it is an expression of thanks to all those whose work contributed to today's shape of the Wrocław office.
Exploitation of the 510 seaplane in the S KWK "Murcki-Staszic" field in the conditions of methane, fire and bumps
  • Operation of the seaplane 510 in the field S KWK "Murcki-Staszic" in the conditions of methane, fire and blows
Due to the endogenous fire in the goaf during its liquidation, the walls and part of the excavations for the next wall were broken down, and the wall area was divided into two fields 8b-S and 10b-S. Based on the experience from wall 9b-S, for wall 8b-S, about 160 m long, a number of additional solutions were designed to reduce the natural hazards and, above all, the fire hazard. However, from the beginning of exploitation with the 8b-S wall, the methane hazard proved to be the dominant one. For this reason, it was necessary to stop the use of the wall until additional prevention was applied, ie to significantly reduce its progress, increase the intensity of demethanization, introduce auxiliary ventilation equipment in the area of its intersection with a ventilation walkway and intensify silting up of the goaf mixture with ash and water. These activities have contributed to reducing the methane hazard. The next wall (2b-S), about 240 m long, was ventilated in the "U" way at the beginning of the run. Based on previous experience, during its course additional corridor pits were made. This allowed, after approx. 280 m of progress, to continue leading the wall with ventilation in the way of "Y". The consequence of the described experiments was the remodeling of the method of selecting the third layer of deck 510 in field S, consisting in shortening the length of subsequent walls (increasing the number of walls in the whole field, from planned 9 to 13) and their demethanating from excavations (desaturation ramps) in deck 501. Such the method of demethanization allowed for a significant reduction of the methane hazard in the next wall: 12b-S, contributing to the safe and effective use of it. At the turn of 2016 and 2017, in the southern part of field S, the exploitation of deck 510 with wall 3b-S began. The main impact on limiting its progress was, in turn, the threat of rock bursts. Despite the prophylactic treatment (limited daily wall progress, shock shooting and moving in the deck, shooting torpedo the roof of the deck) high energy rock bumps caused effects in the overhead wall, including, for example, a rapid increase in carbon monoxide in the wall area after one of the shocks and the need to insulate the region walls by building explosion-proof caps.

  • Peat processing using the milling method (News)
At the beginning of 2002, the exploitation of peat deposits was covered by the provisions of the amended Geological and Mining Law. The new legal reality was foreign to the entire peat industry. At the same time, the specific milling method of exploiting high peat, characteristic only for this industry (conditions of its use, equipment and devices) was a novelty for employees of mining supervision authorities. The so-called. high peat is used for the milling method. The preparatory and dissemination works consist in removing the stand and undergrowth, undergrowth and top layer. Then, the deposit is drained with drainage ditches between exploitation fields (so-called cards). The process of extracting peat is divided into four stages / operations: milling, drying, preparation for harvesting and peat collection. Milling involves removing from the bed of peat layer 15-40 mm thick. During drying, the peat is brought to a moisture of approx. 50-60% or approx. 40-45%. Preparing for harvesting consists in grabbing peat into small piles (so-called rollers) in the axis of exploitation fields. Dried peat raw material is collected by a machine with pickup baskets or by sucking peat into the tank. The exploitation of peat using the frezer method also involves threats, mainly fire ones.
