• General remarks and experience from the operation of closed construction lifting ropes
The article presents the experience of over forty years of operation of closed construction lifting ropes in mining shaft hoists with Koepe drive pulleys and drum hoists. With the permitted speed, load capacity and traffic parameters, the sets of ropes operated by KGHM "Polska Miedź", in lifts with Koepe pulleys and hoisting machines placed on the tower, worked for several months. All of them were put aside due to the appearance of "corkscrew" deformations and numerous small corrosion pits and single "Z" wire fractures in the outer layer. As a result of testing deformed sections of ropes, it was found that the lubricant dried between the outer and the underlying layer of shaped wires, which resulted in the formation of the above-mentioned deformation. The supplementary lubrication of the ropes in operational conditions failed due to: the laboriousness of the method, incomplete lubrication of the ropes and the fear of damaging and weaving the "Z" wire. As a result, it was found that closed construction ropes should not be used in hoisting devices with high traffic, or in exhaust and wet shafts with aggressive shaft waters. In low-traffic emergency -revision devices, with drum machines located on the shafts, similar deformations of the ropes in question also occurred. The operating conditions of the closed construction ropes in the mining shaft hoist with the Koepe drive wheel and the hoisting machine on the shaft core were also analyzed . In such a device, due to the bending of the rope while passing through the shaft, the traffic volume is of great importance. For a given device and ropes of closed construction, there is a daily limit number of cycles, exceeding which accelerated degradation of ropes occurs. It seems that the load-bearing ropes of the closed structure should be tested by an expert in terms of the current condition of the lubricating coating and supplementary lubrication of the ropes should be carried out. Where they were used, the durability of closed construction ropes reached 15-25 years, and where they were not used - 3.5-10 years.
  • The ferry crossing in the underground workings of the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine
The article describes the ferry crossing through the underground lake at the inter- level IIn -III Kazanów of the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine. Originally, the crossing was carried out in the Wkos chamber, and in 1834 it was moved to the Piłsudski chamber. Crossing the brine lake is an additional tourist attraction. The lake was created as a result of flooding the sub-level part of the chamber with brine. It consists of the western and eastern parts and a pavement connecting them. The crossing has been equipped with infrastructure enabling tourist traffic. The marinas were made in the form of wooden viewing platforms equipped with handrails with gates allowing access to the deck of the moored ferry. Platform floors are set on an ordinate adjusted to the height of the ferry's side. The "Hanna" ferry, built of two connected boats, moves on the lake. Its fairway is marked by a rectilinear wooden guide between the marinas. The ferry carries up to 12 tourists at a time. The ferry crossing is carried out manually, with the use of pridey canes . Lifebuoys with rescue lines are placed on both sides of the ferry.
  • Mining rescue on the example of Exalo Drilling
The aim of the article is to review the rules and principles of mining rescue organization in plants carrying out geological works. The Exalo company Drilling , an example of which is the organization of mine rescue, has developed standards that can serve as an example of a well-functioning and organized rescue. The organization of training and anti- blowout courses at the Borer Rescue Station in Krakow for management and traffic supervision personnel allows us to hope that people working on drilling rigs will not allow eruptions, and rescuers from the Company Mine Rescue Team will only conduct and secure preventive work in mining plants .
