The STER system is a multifunctional and comprehensive computer tool supporting management of occupational safety and hygiene in the enterprise. It enables full documentation of legal, mandatory activities related to occupational safety and health at workplaces, including keeping occupational hazards at workplaces, identifying harmful and onerous factors, developing measurement results or performing estimates of individual parameters of harmful and onerous factors at workplaces, based on An automated risk assessment is carried out in an automated manner.

The global tire market has been swelling for several decades and there is no indication that it will change. At the end of 2017, the think tank of the IMARC Group published a report according to which the volume of tires produced worldwide exceeded 3 billion units. According to the authors of this publication, by 2023 this number will increase by another billion. The main tire manufacturers all over the world are increasing both employment and supply. Thus, an increasing number of employees are sent to an uneasy industry, where the number of occupational hazards is first relatively high, and secondly their origin is very different. It is therefore worth analyzing how the world's largest tire manufacturer, Bridgestone, is doing.

Welding is the basic technology for joining metallic materials and plastics. The high occupational exposure of welders results from the presence of various harmful factors that accompany welding processes, including the emission of a mixture of fine-grained particulates (dust) and chemical substances (gases) into the work environment. The main role in reducing the concentration of air pollutants in the areas where welding works are carried out is played by mechanical ventilation. The article presents the characteristics of welding fumes, welding process parameters and methods of air distribution through the use of ventilation equipment and installations in the rooms intended for welding.
- Requirements and test methods for self-locking devices protecting against falling from a height, equipped with rigid guides (15)
Self-clamping devices with rigid guides, in the form of rails or strained wire ropes, are individual fall protection equipment designed for workstations where employees have to travel over long vertical sections, e.g. telecommunication towers, wind farms, poles energy. The article presents basic device constructions and the principle of their operation. Due to the complex construction of self-locking devices and their key role in securing users, they must meet a number of requirements, which together with test methods are included in the PN-EN standards and the Recomendation for Use documents. The lists of current requirements and methods are presented in the division into groups concerning: materials and construction, static load resistance and behavior and functioning in dynamic conditions. Also indicated are tests of the correctness of operation of the equipment during entry and exit and testing of dangerous phenomena that may occur during stopping the falling, carried out with the use of anthropomorphic mannequins.

The article presents specific problems of work safety and ergonomics occurring in the processes of combining structures of aircraft. Many employees in the aviation industry in Poland participate in the processes of joining materials by means of riveting, gluing or welding. Typical accidents in these works were described and the characteristic hazards and nuisances occurring with the use of various connection technologies used in the aviation industry were discussed. Also provided are examples of work equipment and preventive measures to improve the comfort of work undertaken in the existing legal and technical-organizational conditions.
- The needs and expectations of firefighters towards intelligent protective clothing with a hazard signaling system - results of a survey (22)
Very difficult environmental conditions while conducting firefighting activities by firefighters means that scientific and research works are still being conducted aiming at the development of a new type of intelligent protective clothing, equipped with systems facilitating communication and providing comprehensive data on the health of firefighters and the conditions prevailing in their surroundings. These systems can support the firefighter's work and contribute to improving its safety during firefighting operations. However, it is crucial that they meet the expectations of firefighters and are adapted to the conditions of their work. Therefore, the publication presents the results of surveys conducted among firefighters, aimed at determining their needs in relation to intelligent protective clothing with the hazard signaling system.
