    • The need to study the life situation of homeless people in Macedonia. Presentation of the measurement tool (27)
Homeless people, unlike other marginalized groups, are not a priority subject of social welfare in Macedonia. Their situation is subject to discussions usually during the winter, for the remainder of the year institutions and organizations involved in its implementation are silent. As shown by the existing, rather modest data on homelessness, it is experienced mainly by men. This does not mean, however, that there are no women among the homeless - they are, although they constitute only a small group. There are various reasons for staying without a roof over your head. The most frequently mentioned are: addictions, loss of property, mental illness, social orphanhood and growing up in care and educational institutions. In the case of women, divorce or prostitution. Under the influence of the phenomenon of refugees from the Middle East, of which about one million wandered through Macedonia in 2016, the research association for communication and development "PUBLIC" began research on the problem of homelessness. This research was also carried out because a narrow understanding of the phenomenon, limiting people without a home to only those who live on the street, suggested that in Macedonia there are not many homeless people. It was a misrepresentation. The article presents a tool used to measure homelessness, used by Macedonian humanitarian and non-governmental organizations, mainly by the Red Cross.
