Dear Readers, the honorary editor of this issue of "W Akcji" cordially invites you to delve into this reading. Colder days and longer and longer evenings encourage you to stay in the privacy of your home, where you can spend time perfecting the "rescue workshop" with your favorite magazine. The continuing pandemic and subsequent infections with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus force us to take certain precautions. However, the performance of our "rescue craft" must remain at the highest level as before. In this issue you will find a continuation of the article by Brig. M.Sc. Eng. Marcin Ziomek on the SRS system, in which the author focuses on the procedure in the event of disposal of its elements and on emergency states. Staying in the field of road rescue, we encourage you to read the article of the senior section. Tomasz Kulak on incidents involving buses. You will learn about how to proceed during the chemical rescue operation at the basic level from my material. In addition, in the issue you will find a few words about the methods of searching for objects under water, about which Cpt. Jacek Gelert. As for the aspect beyond the borders of our country, from the article by Brig. In the st. Marek Pisarek sp. You will learn how the units for special tasks in the Czech Republic operate, and Paweł Frątczak and Janusz Woźniak present the Scania vehicle, which was delivered to the Volunteer Fire Department units in Chile. In turn, the young brig. Przemysław Berus, in the next part of the series on managing rescue operations, presents the levels at which it takes place. Issues related to fire investigations are explained by the young brig. Tomasz Lewandowski, and about reading their traces on the example of an action analysis, Brig. MSc. Marcin Ziomek. Interesting issues concerning the markings used in laboratories with ionizing radiation sources are discussed by Jakub Ośko.

    • Basics of chemical rescue in a nutshell (10)
The State Fire Service, as one of the few rescue services, has a huge spectrum of events during which interventions are undertaken by its teams. The catalog of interventions includes local threats related to chemical and ecological rescue. Contact with various substances, often dangerous and creating a threat, requires appropriate personal protective equipment and tactics of undertaken actions.
    • Marking used in laboratories with ionizing radiation sources (18)
This article presents the description of information tables and presents the rules of their application. Their knowledge may help in the appropriate behavior during a fire-fighting or rescue operation in a place where sources of ionizing radiation are used.

    • SRS - passenger safety and the safety of rescue and firefighting operations - part II (24)
The previous issue of the journal raised the basic issues related to the operation of the SRS system. Elements such as gas cushions, battery disconnector or the construction of a gas generator are described in detail. In the second part of the article, we will take a closer look at e.g. emergency states and proceedings in the event of disposal of SRS system components.
    • What to go with? Technical and hyperbaric methods of searching for objects under water (32)
Underwater activities are one of the most difficult tasks imposed on the State Fire Service. The choice of the appropriate method is also not the easiest. This article presents technical and hyperbaric methods of searching for objects in water reservoirs.
    • What was that? How to read fire traces - analysis of activities - explosion of overheated cooking oil (40)
How many times have we thought when we had happened - I hadn't seen anything like that before. There are many studies, scientific research and publications about reading fire marks. It is not my goal to discuss all temperature phenomena, physicochemical data, or changes anew. However, I would like to draw attention to how to use these experiences and knowledge in subsequent activities. I would like to share with you my thoughts on the importance of determining the correct cause of the incident based on the information obtained, as well as traces found at the scene of the action.
    • Cycle: Selected issues in the field of fire investigations - fire in the light of judicial decisions (45)
Fire investigation is a very difficult area that requires good organization and extensive knowledge from entities involved in determining the causes of fires. Many theorists consider the issue - determining the causes of fires, to be one of the most difficult procedural steps.
    • Managing rescue operations (51)
"The management of a rescue operation begins with the arrival at the scene of the first forces and resources of the KSRG entities and the confirmation of the legitimacy of taking rescue actions as a result of the on-site identification of the situation" (1). This is how the issue of management is specified in the basic document, which is the directional regulation regulating the organization of rescue operations. Managing rescue operations, in accordance with the cited regulation, can be carried out on three levels: intervention, tactical, and strategic.
    • Rescue operations in incidents involving buses (56)
Incidents involving buses do not occur very often, but have recently been increasing in number. Usually, these are actions that require dealing, first of all, with a large number of injured people, with larger dimensions of the vehicle, and often with difficult location in the field and the use of advanced equipment for rescue purposes.
    • Scania for Chile (68)
Three units of Volunteer Fire Brigades in Chile - in Talagante, Mejillones and Conchali - received three heavy rescue and firefighting vehicles based on Scania chassis, designed and built in the Bielsko WISS.
    • Rescue unit for specialized tasks (74)
Special units are located in three places: Hlučín, Zbiroh and Jihlava. They are equipped with vehicles on a caterpillar chassis, technical vehicles and rescue and firefighting vehicles. They are created for special tasks, incl. such as: removing the effects of strong winds or external threats caused by chemicals.
