    About 140,000 are currently used in Poland. passenger and passenger-goods lifts. Pursuant to the Regulation of the Council of Ministers on the types of equipment subject to technical supervision, lifts are subject to technical supervision at the operational stage, therefore, before using them, they should be notified to the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT) in order to issue a decision authorizing their operation. The Office of Technical Inspection carries out an acceptance test of a given device and, after a positive test result, issues a decision authorizing the operation of the device. At the operational stage, the Office of Technical Inspection conducts periodic tests of these devices.

Therefore, they must properly define the "designed service life" that combines the intensity of use with the length of the machine's entire life cycle. This parameter defines the period of safe operation, from making the machine available to the user for major repairs, assuming the use of key machine parameters.
